FeelGooder Asks: Where Do You Find Fun?

Fun can elude us. Sometimes, we might not realize it’s missing; other times, we know we lack it, but we don’t know where it’s gone. Instead of thinking about what’s fun, I thought I’d take a different angle this week:

Where do you find fun?

I’ll bet you’re thinking, “Oh, lots of places,” but really, I’m curious to know: where?

The places I can almost be guaranteed I’ll find fun include:

  • on the back of a horse—I’ve recently rediscovered the wild-riding fun of trail rides
  • on a camping trip—there’s such freedom in camping; it’s so much fun
  • on a dance floor—I’ve always got a kick out of dancing, although I never seem to do enough of it
  • where my friends are—I love hanging out with friends.

If I combine either the first two or the last two, I can be assured of having a pretty fantastic time: it’s fun squared. And knowing that these things are fun for me, I always have a pick-me-up handy. If I feel things are getting jaded, I can organize a horse ride or a visit to a friend, and up the fun count of my week instantly.

What about you? Where do you find fun?

  1. I find fun in walks in the countryside with my dog, having cozy nights in, doing anything creative or following a project, time with my family, getting dressed up for a night out (more the anticipation of the night out than the actual night). I love camping too! 🙂

    • Nice one Frankie. Cosy nights in and getting dressed up to go out are on my fun list too 🙂

  2. I find fun walking around a natural lake nearby. It is full of birdlife and eels, surrounded by trees. I love listening to the swans and watching them courting. So tranquil.

    • Max, I agree! Nature can be a lot of fun and, as you suggest, you don’t have to “do” much to get a lot from the experience 🙂

      • Outside indeed. We used to live in MN and loved exploring the woods and lakes. Now that we live in CO we have enjoyed hiking and camping. Any time we can we get outside.

  3. I feel god on the golf course. Yes, some would say that this is a frustrating place but for me it is my favorite place to be outdoors challenging my mind and body. I just can’t seem to get my wife on the same page as me in this feeling about golf. I guess you can’t always have it all.

  4. I feel fun at Starbucks, reading with my husband. It’s relaxing, and we spend lots of time laughing at strange things we see, read, and think. A good connecting time!

  5. Playing with my 4 month old Poppy. Especially at bath time!

  6. While training capoeira and being in the center of the “roda” 🙂

  7. Taking with my family members and Playing with my little niece. She is really nice.

  8. My husband and I love karaoke bars- especially ones with dance floors. A little singing and a little dancing are get pick-me-ups. 🙂

  9. I feel good when I’m designing a new project – I love brainstorming, collaborating and hashing-out ideas.

On the flip side I’m a massage therapist so I’m keen on exploring new bodywork treatments.

  10. We have a sport touring motorcycle (Aprilia Futura) and enjoy exploring the canyon roads of Colorado. On one trip we made it out to Mount Princeton Hot Springs. The place was very cool awesome mix of hot water and cold from the Arkansas river.

  11. I find fun in my head.

  12. Fun is inside your mind, inside your heart, and inside you. If fun is not inside you, you will never see fun any where on this planet.

  13. I read this article completely on the topic of the resemblance of newest and previous technologies, it’s awesome article.
