FeelGooder Asks: What’s Bugging You?

We all have those days! Or weeks. Whatever we do, life has its frustrations. So this week, we’re asking:

What’s bugging you?

Rather than let this post descend into a rant, how about we stick to one thing each? What’s the one thing that’s bugging you right now?

For me, it’s inaction. I really hate inaction, whether it’s my own or someone else’s. At any one time, I can spot people dragging their heels for no real reason (that I can seeโ€”of course they may have great reasons that I’m not aware of) and it tends to drive me crazy.

I know that I’m impatient and that inaction bugs me, so I try to do things myself, in my own life, that give me a sense of progress. Often, I’ll do those little projects independently of other people, so that I can feel as if I’m acting unhindered. This can help alleviate my frustration over inaction I might perceive in other areas, and it’s the best antidote I know to getting bugged by inaction.

What about you? What’s been bugging you recently?

  1. Inaction, yes! But in a bigger picture, what gets me is apathy! It’s inaction without passion!

  2. Not to sound petty, but reading tweets about Charlie Sheen is bugging me this week ๐Ÿ™‚ On the bright side, I’ve shut off Twitter and am getting real work done.

  3. Related to inaction, what’s bugging me is my idea that I need permission to do something. There’s always this “safety” feeling that I should just wait for someone to come along and give me permission to do something or do it for me.

I’m working real hard on fighting that urge. And it’s a very hard fight. But I’m getting much much better.

Hey, thanks for the comments ๐Ÿ™‚

You make a great point: there are lots of causes of inaction. apathy, the sense that we need permission, fear — all these things can cause inaction. Which doesn’t make them less annoying … but knowing the causes of our own inaction can help us to overcome it.

And, Dr. Pete, don’t let Charlie get you down ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. I get irritated by people who only want to complain about their situation, but not take responsibility for it. In the US, we have a lot of people out of work and drawing unemployment. And complaining. And then there are those who have used this opportunity to start a business or go back to school to do what they REALLY want to do.
Climbing off my soapbox now. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. It’s funny – I read your post on the day that something has been bugging me and I haven’t been able to put a finger on what it is! After I put some thought into it (since you asked “what’s been bugging you?”) I realized it’s the stress at my workplace (and morale is very low, because of changing work situations) that I’ve let carry over into my week-end. Usually I can shake it off, but I let it get to me today.
Even though I know I can’t control things, and should just live for now, letting the future take care of itself; sometimes it’s just difficult to do that.

It is, Camille. I hope that talking about it helped you enjoy your weekend with a little less stress! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I always think to work hard on certain project but I can not. Due to I just don’t feel like doing it.
“I don’t feel like doing it…” is bugging me.
