Remember the festive season? Doesn’t that seem like it was a long time ago? We’re well and truly into the thick of things now. And I bet you, like I, moved more than a few mountains this week. We’d love to hear about them!
What mountains did you move this week?
For me, this week’s mountain was work-related.
As a freelancer, I have this idea that I’m supposed to get to choose the types of work I do. But sometimes I’ll get sucked into a project that I’m not excited about—without even realizing it.
In the last few weeks I started seeing the potential for this to happen with one of my clients. Many of us have trouble saying “no”—especially in terms of work—and in the last week I had to face that challenge and somehow negotiate my way out of a project without offending a great client or reducing my prospects of working with them in future.
It was tough, but I think I managed it! And I’m really excited about having freed up some time to spend on projects that should be a whole lot of fun.
What mountains have you moved this week? We’d love to hear about them!
Hi Georgina,
I’ve worked freelance for a dozen years, and I know what you mean about the difficulty of saying “no.” In many cases, though, turning down a project can actually be good for a freelance business, because it can prevent us from losing time on insignificant or low-paying jobs.
The mountain that I moved this week involved scheduling my exercise. In the past, I’d exercise when I could work it into my day, and it often never got “worked in.” This week, I started adding time slots for exercise into my daily schedule. I wasn’t rigid about the time. Instead, I worked in exercise where it worked with other tasks in the day. With these exercise slots on my daily list, though, I worked out every day.
Thanks for the great post!
I have began a new blog with new energy!!
Hey Georgina
I suppose there was an image in the post but maybe it is missing now. Anyways. My mountain for this week was that i finally got myself to sit and write. instead of just thinking about it.
May I have a suggestion. Look at the title of the post and move a letter.. it will move the mountain 😉
Cheers
Vlad
I finally got a guest post finished and submitted to a site I’ve been wanting to be featured on forever. I kept putting it off – but finally did it!
It sounds mushy, and slightly off topic, but I think I fell in love this week, for the first time.
I left a dead end, boring full time job that pays very well to explore new options and hopefully help others
Wow! You guys really have moved some mountains. That’s so inspiring 🙂 Congratulations.
(Oh, and Vlad, thanks for your very polite spell-o tipoff. Much appreciated!)
Thanks Georgina ,
I love the style of this blog both the writing and the visuals
You will see me around more often now that I found you 🙂
Have a wonderful day!
